Interested in giving your baby's bottom a clean, soft, breathable alternative to a throwaway diaper?
Think about how it feels when you put on a clean, soft pair of cotton underwear or when you tuck yourself in at night under a set of cotton sheets that were dried in the cool fresh air. It feels nice doesn't it? Now think about putting on a paper-and-plastic disposable diaper. This is what goes on your little precious baby's bottom when you use a throwaway diaper.
You have a CHOICE there are quality cloth diapers available that are easy to use. Times have changed no pins, no dunking or soaking needed. Every two or three days just throw dirty diapers in the washer on a cold water rinse and then run the diapers through a regular wash load cycle.
Why Use Cloth Diapers?
- Cloth is a kinder, simpler, softer choice than disposables.
- Cloth diapers are breathable, allowing air to circulate to your baby's skin, keeping it healthy.
- Cloth diapers saves you money. Assuming an average two and a half-year diapering period, disposable diapering costs around $2,000 compared to approximately $700 for a high-quality home diapering system. (This figure takes into account detergents and energy costs.)
- There is a connection between dioxin (a toxic chemical) exposure and disposable diapers. The dioxin used in the paper bleaching process resists biological breakdown and accumulates in waterways and waste sludge.
- Super absorbent single use diapers contain sodium polyacrylate. This substance was removed from tampons in 1985 because of its link to toxic shock syndrome.
- Reusable cloth diapers take a fraction of materials to produce compared to 82,000 tons of plastic and 250,000 trees felled each year to make disposable diapers. 18 billion throwaway diapers are tossed into landfills each year, taking as many as 500 years to decompose.
- An added benefit is that babies who wear cloth diapers are usually toilet trained earlier because the child actually knows when he or she is wet.
Why Use Hemp?
- Hemp fabric is naturally anti-microbial, which means your baby will be protected naturally from bacteria, mold, and mildew.
- Hemp is super absorbent and can breath, so it is cool in summer and warm in winter.
- Hemp fabric is very durable; therefore, can be recycled and used over and over for multiple babies. It washes well and becomes softer and more absorbent.
- Pesticides and herbicides are not needed in the farming of hemp.
- Hemp does not deplete the soil; in fact, the leaves from the hemp plant return nitrogen back to the soil, which improves soil fertility. Hemp is also drought tolerant.
Enjoy Your Baby Use Cloth Diapers You Won't Regret It!
Not ready to take the full leap? Start out using cloth slowly. Maybe using cloth on a part-time basis fits your lifestyle, keeping in mind that the less amount of time your baby is in a throwaway diaper, the less exposure to chemicals, less trash and more money in your pocket.
